But it is very easy to keep your policy in check through the latest mediums of communication. Following are some methods to check your policy status.
Checking Status Online- You need to make one time registration on LIC India website. During registration, you are required to fill in details like policy number, premium amount, date of birth and email id etc. Once you are successfully registered, you can check everything related to policy including policy status, premium due, maturity calendar and other relevant details.
Checking Status through SMS- Policy information can also be checked through your mobile. You only need to send specific words as per the information required. You can send SMS to 56677. You can get details on loan available, bonus accrual, revival quotation, premium position etc.

Example: For getting information on premium position, you need to send SMS at 56677 with following words: asklic <xx11111111> <premium position>
Checking Status through customer care:
IVRS or Integrated Voice Response System is available at all times (24×7) from most cities and providing required information to customers. Any customer can contact LIC IVRS by dialing Universal Access Number (UAN) 1251.
For making local calls from any MTNL or BSNL number simply dial 1251 and for other users IVRS can be accessed by dialing the city STD code of the IVRS center followed by 1251.
